Tom will no longer participate in the Vuelta a España. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma will leave the grand tour after seven stages and will focus on the upcoming cycling season.
Tom Dumoulin and Primoz Roglic are ready to start in Spain. The riders will share the leadership at the Vuelta.
The Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège will be held on Wednesday (30th of September) and Sunday (4th of October) respectively.
From August 29 to September 20, Tom will hunt for the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. The Team Jumbo-Visma Tour formation tries to finish on the highest step of the podium in Paris with one of the two leaders, Tom and Primoz Roglic.
Tom got well through the first stage of the French three-day race Tour de l’Ain. After a relatively easy stage with a vicious end, Tom Dumoulin sprinted to fourth place respectively. The Jumbo – Visma team led by Grischa Niermann and Arthur van Dongen is in good shape with the remaining climbing stages ahead.
More and more, it looks like that the cycling season can restart in August. This means the cyclists have a purpose and goal to work towards again. So does Tom. He is now in full preparation for the Tour de France, which will start on August 29 in Nice if all goes as planned.
Due to a ongoing knee injury, a parasite and the corona crisis, Tom hasn’t been able to race for a year. The winner of the Giro d’Italia of 2017 and one of the leaders of Team Jumbo-Visma for the upcoming Tour de France, however, looks to the future with great confidence, the 29-year-old Dutchman explained in the Dutch Talkshow M by Margriet van der Linden.
Jumbo-Visma will adopt the Movistar approach in the 2020 Tour de France, taking three leaders in Tom Dumoulin, Steven Kruijswijk and Primož Roglič.
